Good morning world, it looks like another fine day. Let’s all go out and enjoy the sun while we have the chance.
Young number 7 and his pack of adults put some things together and headed out. The first stop of the day is his first trip to the local park with his new found ability to walk. He is very intently studying the blades of grass. They stick straight up and appear to be very sharp yet they are so soft to walk on, stomp, stomp.
While number seven is smiling about his new discovery of the characteristics of grass, there is more happening that of which he is totally unaware. A young couple lying in the distance was expecting to be alone this early Sunday morning found that they are distantly in the company of a young family. A third person standing, looking into the shadows, searching for… Even further in the distance buildings and homes show a crowded community yet this park is nearly empty, an oases of calm and serenity. This park, planned, designed, built and maintained by individuals so that on any given day major decisions can be made in a place of peace and beauty. Today number seven is deciding that grass is fun to walk on; the young couple together is planning the start of their own family and the lone individual up so early after a sleepless night could be making a life changing personal decision or perhaps, one that would affect the lives of thousands.
After a long morning of play and discovery, it’s time for young number seven to take his nap.
Upon awakening mom says discovery must continue. To the beach everyone goes.
Young number seven is exploring the dunes, pebbles and stones unaware of moms focused eyes giving room yet close enough to be there. Grandma is trying her best to keep up but finding it more and more difficult. Dad with calculator in hand is doing his best to prepare for the future while paying for today. Two more things about mom in this picture, she is focused much more on young number seven then on herself. She is also instinctively standing between young number seven and her perception of his greatest danger. I cannot tell if it was the wide open guardrail or grandma.
The day of discovery coming to a close, with an eye on tomorrow young number seven commits himself to his future and runs towards it.
“Where is grandpa?” you say. “This is a site about grandpa’s advice but there is no grandpa.” Well grandpa is the one who took the pictures. It is obvious that he was trying to say something. I believe he took these pictures with the hopes of communicating a message years later and after we experienced seven growing up. It worked.
